My life is at a crossroad, I am a 51 year old man full of uncertainty. What is my next role? Do I play the role of a middle aged black man that was recently informed that he can no longer work in his chosen profession due to a plethora of medical injuries? Do I play the role of a middle aged man that successfully changes his career? Do I play the role of a depressed, down on his luck, down on himself, mad at the world, always me, if it wasn’t for you, I did everything on my own for years type of man? Do I play the role of the town drunk who lost his family because he fell off of the old wagon? Or, do I take the longest recurring role in history, “THE ANGRY BLACK MAN.” There are many casting calls, but not all casting calls should be answered, choose wisely. I will not let my moral value depreciate like those of a starving actor. I refuse to accept the roles that shine a light on the degradation and the degeneracy of black women and children. I also refuse to accept any roles that portray the black man as inferior, uncommitted, monstrous, incarcerated, lazy, philandering, drug dealing, uneducated, and faithless. I refuse to be negatively type casted! I will only accept roles that shine a light on my passion for equality, justice, independence, education, family, prosperity, faith, and the never ending pursuit of freedom!
I went to the crossroad
Fell down on my knees
Asked the Lord above
Have mercy on me now
Save poor Bob, if you please
