Cornerman- a coach or trainer assisting a fighter during a bout.
The look in my eyes should tell you that I am here to fight, this unholy world, my opponent, I will go the distance, no knock out here. Yes, I am fatigued, I am bruised, and I am battered, but standing tall I shall remain. With hands held high I continue to hold my ground, I am prepared for what punches may come my way, the Lord is in my corner now, He watches over me, this daily fight to live a holy life I shall not lose. I was behind on all cards in the early rounds, I was fatigued, I kept my hands down low, I was out of shape mentally, physically, and spiritually, I did not have the Lord in my corner, I did not fare well, I was outboxed, a beating I took. My legs were feeble, and my once steady hands they shook, they were unsure of themselves, an alcoholic I was, I left myself wide open, I had no defense for the onslaught that came my way, a drunk punching bag I became. Midway through the fight I made a change, I found someone to help me get sober, I found someone to guide me, I found someone to watch over me, I found someone that could save me from myself, I found the Lord. In these later rounds I fight for everlasting life, so my hands I hold up at all times now, my legs, no longer feeble, my hands, now sure of themselves, for the Lord has taken my taste for alcohol from me. With life everlasting at stake I fight, punches I throw, I have life against the ropes, I am performing well, but life hits hard when you least expect it, so I pray throughout the fight. With hands held high I continue to hold my ground, I am prepared for what punches may come my way, the Lord is in my corner now, He watches over me, this daily fight to live a holy life I shall not lose.
The Lord says:
“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life, I will advise you and watch over you.”
